Country Christmas 2001, Casino Romanix, Rheinfelden
For the first time the Dusty Road fan club organized this year under the leadership of Heinz Flueckiger an advent concert in the beautiful hall of the Rheinfelden casino. Under the huge crystal chandeliers, 300 cheerful music fans met on Saturday, 8 December 2001 as a start-up for the coming holiday season or just to spend a wonderful Country-Gospel evening.
The evening was opened on the beautifully decorated stage by the twelve best singers of the Gospel Family Choirs of Zofingen, Worb and Rheinfelden. One hour of superb choral singing, discreetly accompanied by a guitar, a drum and a piano. Alone those singers fascinated the audience. The three soloists, each of them changing between emotional and jazzy, showed their talents and were rewarded by a thunderous applause by the audience.
After some words by Peter Gysin of Radio Edelweiss, heebie-jeebies were inevitable: „Joy to the World“, sang by Heinz Flueckiger, ripped the audience from their seats for the first time. What came after that was just genious, Heinz Flueckiger and his Dusty Road enchanted the whole audience with all what belongs to a Country Christmas.
Heinz Flueckiger and Dusty Road were accompanied by the Accapella formation „4 get it“ from the canton of Thurgau (they should really not be forgotten as they supported the bandleader’s excellent voice perfectly).
After a short break, during which the member of the Dusty Road Fan-Club distributed drinks, „4 get it“ opened the second part alone and showed how wonderful they could sing. Dusty Road played then for another hour Christmas music brilliantly mixed with blues. In the end the public sang “Holy Night” together with the band and this was at the same time the highlight and the end of this concert. Of course the audience claimed endlessly for extras with standing ovations. After the fourth extra I went home and I am certain that everybody went home enthusiastic of this evening and was looking forward to the next Christmas concert with Heinz Flueckiger and Dusty Road. Thank you, Dusty Road, it was simply wonderful!
